Advocate

Every 2 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted. Volunteers play a vital role in providing support services to those in need, promoting the availability of resources to victims and educating the public about prevention.

RAINN has a new tool to connect volunteers with opportunities in their own communities. With just a few clicks, visitors can learn about available opportunities at their local rape crisis centers ranging from crisis support, to helping out with office work, to education outreach, to community events or speaking opportunities.
Click on one or more volunteer descriptions, fill out the web form, and the application is automatically sent to the local crisis center.

Lavinia's Story

After years of struggle and trauma after sexual assault...Lavinia discovered and implemented seven steps to her true empowerment after rape through prayer and supplications. Please read her book, "Breathe Again", to learn more details of how God brought a girl from misery to a woman of ministry. You can also come and share with her at the St. Stephen Community Church in Desoto, Texas, where God has led her to implement the S.A.V.E. ministry.

7 Steps to True Empowerment after Sexual Assault:

  1. Remember that you are not alone. James 3:17; Psalms 23
  2. You should not be ashamed. Psalms 31:1; Romans 5:3-5
  3. It was not your fault. Galations 6:11; Romans 7:15-23
  4. Learn to trust again...for there is still good in others. Psalms 27
  5. Seek ways of self motivation and inspiration.
  6. Learn to forgive your assailant so that you can heal properly.
  7. Breathe again...for you are no longer a victim but now a conqueror.
